CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee Convenes Gathering to Mark Int'l Women's Day
March 11, 2023The Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a gathering on March 6 at the China National Academy of Painting (CNAP) in Beijing, to celebrate International Women's Day and promote exchanges with the China Female Artists Association (CFAA).
The event aimed to deepen the study and implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress, consolidate unity and common ground among the participants, and draw a blueprint for the future. Luo Ying, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee and some women CPPCC members and women artists attended the event.

In her speech at the gathering, Wang Qingyun, deputy Party secretary of the CNAP, talked about the academy's efforts to promote the development of Chinese cultural and artistic affairs, build cultural confidence and carry forward traditional Chinese culture.
Zhang Yajun, secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and president of the Beijing Women's Federation (BWF) and a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress, spoke with participants about her feelings and thoughts about how to implement the guiding principles of the key congress, and to rally women's strength and contributions on the new journey toward a modern socialist country.
Wang Jinshan, director of the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee, conveyed festive greetings and best wishes to women members of the committee and the CFAA. He noted that the event was designed to fully act on the new requirements of building cultural confidence and strength outlined by the report to the 20th CPC National Congress; respond to the call made by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) at an awards ceremony on March 1 to follow the Party's leadership and play an important role on the Chinese path to modernization; and unite women's strength to promote the high-quality development of the capital city.
Kong Zi, president of the CFAA, a National March 8th Red-banner Holder and an executive member of the ACWF, shared her experience of leading the association to strive for higher achievements on the new journey. She said that it is the responsibility of women artists to portray the historical process of China's national rejuvenation and create fine works reflecting the characteristics of the new era and the nation.
Members of the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee paid a visit to a special exhibition at the CNAP in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the CFAA. During their interaction, participants highlighted the significance of traditional Chinese virtues and looked forward to a bright future.
